Our Origins

The Story of Mariana and Her Father

The story of Ecol-Air did not begin in a high-tech laboratory, but in the genuine curiosity of a child and the unwavering support of her father.
From a very young age, Mariana was intrigued by how her father Manuelʼs car would become covered in a persistent layer of dust, even after rainfall.
Her childhood question, “Why does air make things dirty?”, was met not with dismissal, but with a challenge.

Before a formal corporate structure even existed, protecting intellectual property became essential.

The Road to Innovation

What began as an award-winning local science fair project gradually evolved thanks to an unbreakable team: Mariana contributed the scientific vision, while Manuel, with mechanical ingenuity, transformed ideas into tangible prototypes.
However, the road to innovation was not without hardship. Financial constraints forced pauses.There were broken promises, closed doors, and individuals who attempted to benefit unfairly from their invention.
At one critical moment, due to lack of funding, the technology was literally stored away under plastic sheets and suspended in uncertainty.

The turning point came at a family gathering, where two Colombians living in the United States encountered the dormant technology.

Recognizing its potential, they decided to invest, providing the capital necessary to build the first functional prototype. In its early phase, the focus was on mobility solutions by capturing emissions directly from vehicle exhaust systems. But as the technology evolved, the team realized its true impact lay in industrial and atmospheric-scale applications

The First Official Patent

The Patent Brigade stepped in, guiding them through the process of securing their first official patent:
LAMEP. This initial patent marked a milestone.

It not only aimed to clean the air but also to transform captured pollutants into a bio-interactive polymer used to produce rapidly biodegradable bags

Success Continues to Grow

With this success, Mariana and Manuel returned to their original passion: combating large-scale atmospheric pollution.

Drawing from her veterinary studies, Mariana introduced a concept that would change everything – biomimicry.

By understanding how living organisms function, she redesigned the system to operate like a biological organism, exponentially increasing efficiency and scalability.

After rigorous testing validated this bio-inspired approach, Mariana, Manuel, and their partners took the decisive step forward

Ecol-Air was born, not merely as a technological innovation, but as the triumph of perseverance between a daughter and a father who never stopped believing that air could be pure again.
